Blue And Gold Macaws

Not many Parrots are as spectacular as a Blue and Gold Macaw, Their vibrant colours coupled with their size, projects a commanding presence.
They are intelligent, talkative, playful and affectionate in nature, it is these attributes that have secured their position as a sought after pet world wide.
In Australia, Blue and Gold Macaws are quickly becoming the "must have" pet. Production rates amongst Aviculturists are increasing and so is the demand from Pet owners wishing to secure one of these magnificent Parrots as a lifelong companion. Note, I do mean lifelong they have a life expectancy of 60 years.
The Baby Macaws that we represent are parent started, this enables them to obtain the appropriate crop flora and robust immune system that only the parents can supply.
They are then lovingly hand raised on Kaytee Exact formula or Tropicana, Weaned on soaked seed, pellets, nuts and fresh fruit and vegetables.
We like to expose them to a healthy amount of sun whilst weaning, so they can absorb the necessary amount of vitamin D, for maximum calcium absorption.
The benefit of all the above can be seen in the immaculate feather condition of our birds, with strong vibrant colours and healthy feather sheen. We have pre-weaning weights up to 1.3kg, which is impressive.
We pride ourselves on promoting babies that are well socialised and super friendly. They will roll on their backs in your lap, happily sit on your shoulder or snuggle up for a cuddle, everything a quality companion pet should be.
Regardless of whether you purchase a Macaw through us or not, when considering buying a Macaw, make sure you research the quality that’s available. There are some exceptional Macaw breeders Australia wide, but there also a lot of substandard macaws on the market.
Look at quality over price. Because if you pick up a cheap macaw. That has been raised in substandard conditions, saving the few dollars won’t be such a great investment long term if it dies prematurely.
N.B. Never purchase a Macaw that has been raised in close proximity with Australian native parrots. This includes Cockatiels, Cockatoos, Galahs, Rainbow lorikeets etc.
The risk of disease transmission is way too high to take a chance. Australian native parrots carry diseases that are lethal to exotics. Vet checks on Macaws unless extensive blood work is done are purely on physical representation of the bird and do not rule out any of the diseases that a Macaw can contract from native parrots.
Our Blue and Gold macaw babies are raised in a closed hand rearing facility. This means we only have our own birds on the premises to hand rear. This eliminates disease transmission from having birds from various sources coming into contact with each other.
We believe Quality is the most important aspect to be considered when purchasing a parrot.
