Availability
This beautiful species is endemic to Indonesia and Western New Guinea. They are a medium/large Lory with stunning glossy black plumage that has a purple tinge in the sun and a vibrant yellow and red under tail.
They reach sexual maturity around 3-4 years of age, once breeding they produce 2 eggs per clutch and if the chicks are removed at a few weeks of age, they can bred several times in a season.
All our birds are either parent started or fully parent reared this way they receive the natural crop and gut flora from the parents which is important for a robust immune system.
We have found that they make wonderful pets, very engaging and affectionate with the usual playful characteristics that Lories are known for.
